The Perfect Fall Escape π
There is something about fall that makes me want to pack a sweater, grab the kids and go somewhere with
actual fall weather.
I’m talking colorful leaves, chilly mornings, apple cider, fire pits, cute little towns and maybe a fireplace waiting for you back at the hotel.
And if you live somewhere warm, you know exactly what I mean. Sometimes we have to travel to find fall!
The good news? A fall getaway doesn't have to mean giving up a beautiful hotel just because you're bringing the kids.
These are nine hotels I would look at for a family fall escape — from classic Vermont to the Smoky Mountains and everywhere in between.
β¨ A Little Extra When You Book With Meβ¨
At select hotels, I may be able to add special preferred partner or Virtuoso benefits to your stay. Depending on the hotel and rate, these can include things like daily breakfast, a hotel credit, room upgrades when available, early check-in or late checkout.
I'll always check which perks are available for your stay.
So... Which Fall Escape Should You Choose?
With six very different places on this list, it really comes down to
what you want your fall getaway to feel like.
If you want
classic New England fall, start with
Woodstock Inn & Resort. Think colorful leaves, covered bridges, cider donuts and a cute little Vermont town that feels made for fall.
If you want
Vermont with more of a mountain resort experience, I'd choose
The Lodge at Spruce Peak in Stowe. You still get all those beautiful fall colors, but with plenty of activities and a full resort right at your fingertips.
If your kids need
LOTS to do, take a look at
Nemacolin. This is the one for families who want fall scenery but also want enough activities to keep everyone entertained.
If you want something that feels straight out of a storybook,
Mohonk Mountain House is hard to beat. A castle-like hotel, a lake, hiking trails and fall colors everywhere? Yes, please.
If you're ready for a
big splurge, I'd choose
Blackberry Mountain. The mountain setting, incredible food and those amazing Treehouses make this one of the most special stays on the list. This is the kind of place where the hotel isn't just where you sleep — it's the reason you take the trip.
And if you're thinking, “I want it to feel like fall, but I really don't want to be cold,” go straight to
Montage Palmetto Bluff. You get fire pits, bikes, beautiful trees and plenty of time outside without packing your winter coat.
